Happy Halloween

Halloween is always a little crazy in elementary school. I've never been so tired as I am after every Halloween day.
This year I really wanted to be a princess, so the first grade team all dressed up as Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.
I loved seeing all of my cute kids in their fun costumes.
Here is a little look into my spooky day.

missionaries

General Conference is always an amazing time as we receive counsel from prophets and know of the Lord's will for his people.

I always love to hear about the new temples and was sad that there was only two new ones to announce.

BUT of course President Monson had a bigger surprise in store.

Elder missionaries can now go at the age of 18.
Sisters at 19.

I just watched history being made and it is incredible.

All I can think is now my brother could serve in 8 years and not 9.

Crazy!

#best job ever

best part of my day? I was sitting at my guided reading table this morning with four of my ESL students. One of them speaks very little English and this year has hardly ever spoken to me, he just looks up and smiles. Today we were working on the "-at" family and he read the sentence. "I am a fat cat." and "I have a silly hat" He thought it was hilarious and started giggling uncontrollably. Soon they were all laughing and I was crying with laughter. Nothing beats watching a kid learn to read and understand.

Boise, 1st grade, and friends.

Oh so much to catch up on in the last couple weeks. Let's see...

I took a last minute trip to Boise, Idaho to bid a fond/sad farewell to Sister Jaclyn Coleman. She is going to be serving a mission in Guatemala. I am so excited for her!
On Tuesday of last week Hannah texted me and asked if I wanted to go to Boise, next thing I know it's Friday and the entire apartment was reunited for a fun weekend of laughing so hard I was crying, playing, lots of food and lots of love. It was the best.
14+ hours of driving is only worth it if you're with these wonderful people. Props to Katie for helping me drive! You rock.

Yeah....we're hard core like that. When in Idaho...
One final ultimate sleepover. We were really good at those in apartment 451.
After this picture we were all crying. Love you Sister Coleman

Well after the crazy weekend that was Boise and back it was back to my cute little people. I've only taught them for 18 days (I know this because we count each and every day of school) but I just love them. They are so cute and funny. Here are some more things I've learned.

1. If you do not know how to tie your shoes your parents should seriously invest in some velcro.

2. I need to learn Spanish so
a. the entire Spanish population will not be let down when they attempt to speak to me
b. I can speak with the new girl in my class who knows very little English
c. I can better communicate with my cute classroom grandma who smiles at me and I know she's thinking "what in the world is this woman trying to say"
BUT rest assured I'm getting better every day.

3. A cold can really bring you down, ESPECIALLY when you're trying to entertain six year olds all the time.

4. Sometimes there is not enough Diet Coke or chocolate in the world to get me through the day. BUT Diet Coke and chocolate help.

5. At the end of the day, no matter how frustrated or impatient I may get, they always love me. And that my friends is a wonderful feeling. One I try to be worthy of each and every day.

So....Friday night was skate night.
I've learned that no matter how much your students love you, for some reason if they see you outside of a classroom they may refuse to talk to you. Even after multiple attempts. Luckily a couple of them agreed to say hello and give me a hug.

Skate night was lots of fun.

I still just love this girl. Even though I see her a thousand times less than last year she still in wonderful and makes life better.  Watching our students read together on Friday was kind of adorable.
I appreciate you Megs!

Shout out to this wonderful lady! Not only did she teach me how to be a great teacher she continues to be the mother I need at Amelia. It doesn't hurt that she's a Diet Coke addict either. Love you Kathe.

The two cuties who would actually say hello to me. (Note the Diet Coke in my hand....#3 that day)
And finally, to the amazing Tami, my mentor and friend. Shout out to you! You keep me laughing so hard I'm crying, answer all my dumb questions, AND always have a couple quarters to spare when I'm in desperate need of a Diet Coke, I'm not sure I could ask for or find anyone better! Thanks for all you do!

a labor free day.

Another week down and I'm still loving it.
Those little people are kind of adorable.

This is how I feel about them.

Lots of love.

Some things they taught me this week:
1. There is no such thing as a personal bubble when you're six AND why should there be.
This week we created rainbow fish and I called them over one by one to use the "grown-up" glue. One little boy came over, placed his hand on my knee and leaned into me the whole time. All I could do was laugh.

2. If you miss something cause you're in the bathroom, just walk into the classroom and announce, "What are we learning?" or the classic "What did I miss?"

3. My parents were really silly for naming me Miss. I mean, who does that?

4. Six year olds give the best hugs.

In other news, this baby is almost finished! All I need to do is take it down to the great ladies at Corn Wagon Quilts in Springville and have it quilted. I'll get it back in a few weeks, bind it, and then I'll finally have my adorable bedspread. I'm in love.

The Webb family earned another cool point in the universe this week when little dude man was named an All-American at the Junior Olympics. I know, we're pretty awesome. Well, he is, I'm just awesome for knowing him.
Way to go dude.

Happy day off from all your labors. I hope you enjoyed yours, I spent mine poolside, enjoying the glorious sun, watching netflix, and getting some work done.

:)

Look Whoo Started First Grade

This week marked my first official week as a first grade teacher.
What an adventure it has been!

Wondering about the title, take a look at the theme of my room.
For more pics of this adorableness you can click here
I love my little owls, they're adorable.
 Back to school night!

Annual first day of school pic with Megs, we even match! How adorable is that! Love this girl. AND I'm so glad that she's teaching 6th grade at the same school so I can still play with her.

Look how happy I am in this picture with Megs, I had no idea what I was getting into!
Wow, first grade is hard, but I will say it is also the funniest thing of my life.
It is tiring in a completely different way than 4th grade was.  Like, who knew it took a half an hour to color a picture or write a sentence. Or that listening was just so hard.

My kids are so adorable and so well behaved so far (cross your fingers and knock on wood).
I wish I could upload all the adorableness that is my class but, I haven't taken a class pic yet, so you'll have to wait. But you'll be in for a treat because they are so stinking cute.

Every teacher knows that the best thing you can do is write down the funny things the kids say so you don't forget it all. Well after a week in 1st grade (which makes me an expert) I decided to make a list of the things I have learned so far this year.

Lessons Learned in First Grade
(Week 1)

1. Shoes are very hard things to keep on your feet.

2. Finally being able to use grown up markers for a project is like winning the lottery.

3. Potty breaks are very important and should be taken often.

4. Snack can never come soon enough.

5. If at first you don't listen, try again.

6. Gold fish are worth their weight in gold.

7. Dimples on a six year old are to die for.

8. What rhymes with old?.....Octopus.

9. I'm so very beautiful, very loved, and the best teacher ever!

10. When you're six, everything is funny.

11. Little kids have the softest hair and the smoothest skin. It's kind of ridiculous.

12. Patience is a required virtue.

13. The only way to keep 21 six year olds quiet is to tell them to pretend they have marshmallows in their mouths. Seriously go try it, it's genius.

14. Touching the carpet is the most exciting part of the day.

15. Silver teeth smiles are socially acceptable when you're six. AND super cute.

16. You should never be embarrassed to sing your heart out and dance whatever you feel. Don't know the words? No worries, just make noises that don't even sound like the words. It's cool. We'll still love you in room 5.

Summer Highlights

Since I was such a bad blogger this summer (shocker) I thought I'd do a little wrap up for you.

In chronologically order, here are the highlights of summer 2012 (Highlights because I felt the need to take a picture of the events)
In celebration of my completion of BYU my mother and I spent a week in beautiful Hawaii. Getting there was quite the adventure as these pictures show....three flights people. Three. But as Lori would say, "It was cheap!"
Aunt Wendy's house is full of beautiful orchids! This was sent to the BFF my first morning there.
Our first day, locating the local beach and basking in the glory of the Hawaii sun! Can you say zero photoshop. It was that beautiful people.

We even went on a little hike to a beautiful water fall.

We even visited Benner who is stationed in Hawaii with the army.

A trip to the beautiful temple was a must.

The completion of my life's dream wasn't too bad either ;)

We were even mistaken for locals this day. I think we should just move there.

Driving home from Utah, pre-hawaii. Nothing is as beautiful as Nevada in June...not.
Glitter toes are my favorite.

Loved spending the summer with these two adorable pups. They are my favorite.

And of course, what is summer without the always adorable Green girls. Here was a picture from Six Flags.

Bug found my graduation cap and gown in my car and took it for a test drive.

 Mom and Dad <3 p="p">

Shelbs turned 15! I can't even believe it.

A long overdue visit to the SF Giants...such a fun day.

 Dates with my favorite guy.

 Dates with my favorite girl.

 I turned 22.

 Friday fun swim day.

Blake and Marissa went to the Junior Olympics for water polo.

 Blake won a silver medal.

Wrapping up another fun time with these cuties.

Love being home for summer.
Nothing beats California sunshine.
